Meet The Team: Andrew Schenck, Area Sales Manager

Andrew’s career in plastics started in 1998 as a machine operator for a major packaging company in Erie, PA. During his college education, he worked in R&D, product development and extended period of doing machine setups. He spent 7 years working for a German OEM before joining Turner Group in 2011.  Andrew holds a degree in Plastics Engineering Technology from Penn State. On a personal note, Andrew has been happily married to Megan since 2010 and has two boys, Wesley and Reid, aged 6 & 8.

Would you share a happy/fun memory from your childhood?

Riding a bike represented freedom as a child, so I wanted to learn early. I took off training wheels, and on the first day, my brother pushed me down a hill (which seemed huge at the time but seeing it now, it is tiny), and I ran straight into a pine tree. It hurt, but I have ridden a bike ever since.

What gives your work life meaning?

Seeing a product progress from concept to being used in everyday life or even used to save people’s life. I really enjoy supporting US manufacturing.

What gives your personal life meaning?

My boys, we are doing our best to provide a great life for them and hope to shape them into good human beings.

Favorite city/place in the world and why?

San Diego, I have travelled a lot, and I always love coming home. We have started our family here, and I also hope to retire here one day.

Name one thing you are good at and would be your best piece of advice to someone in this regard?

I prefer to be well-rounded rather than good at one single thing. I would recommend someone to try everything, explore as much as possible, and these experiences will prepare you for new challenges.

What are your favorites hobbies?

My kid’s hobbies are my new hobbies now but on my own time, I have gotten in a good routine of quick workouts to run, bike, SUP or take out the kayak.

Where is your dream vacation destination?

Bora Bora, we went there on our honeymoon, and it is still one of the most amazing places we have ever been.

Where was your favorite vacation?

I guess I answered this in the last questions, but I also really enjoy going back East every summer as a tradition for the kids.

What is your favorite Turner Group moment?

We have done a lot of annual retreats, and they all have great moments, but Germany Tech Days trips are always memorable.

What does company culture mean to you?

Appreciating what each team member contributes to each other’s success. Gratitude is an important part of life and work. It is also great to have a team that can celebrate victories together.

If you could only eat one type of food the rest of your life, what would it be

Avocados (very CA thing to say)

What is one of your unwritten rules for work?

Same as life, the Golden Rule, treat others the way you want to be treated.

“We look forward to connecting with you”
