Machines and peripheral equipment need to speak the same language
The OPC UA interface paves the way for the adoption of the standard in other regions such as here in North America. Euromap standards are pivotal in ensuring connectivity, interoperability, and data exchange in injection molding machines and other related equipment. The standardization ensures that the data to be exchanged is uniform and is recognized by the connected devices. Here are some of the recent developments in Euromap connectivity:
Euromap 77:
The Euromap 77 interface enables even faster and more efficient data exchange between injection molding machines and host computers, paving the way for the widespread use of Industry 4.0 in the plastics processing industry. Another advantage is greater flexibility. As well as standard machines, in future it will also be possible to incorporate multi-component and rotary table machines, as well as individual injection units as required.
This standard focuses on the interface between injection molding machines and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). It provides a framework for data exchange, enabling real-time production monitoring, quality tracking, and machine status updates. Euromap 77 is based on OPC UA (Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture), which is becoming the preferred protocol for industrial automation.

Euromap 86:
Euromap 86 provides OPC UA information models for material supply systems. It deals with the handling of granules, powder or liquids. Simple systems are considered, like bagged goods to loaders as well as highly complex systems with silos, pipes, dryers, mixers and dosing units. Part 1 covers the order management with the management of jobs and tracing of the material.
